The Underground Scene of Lion City (At Singapore)

Singapore, the place I want to be, no racial prejudice people, unity and respect to each other. The most beautiful place I’ve seen and great undergound scene.

I had the chance to ask one of Singapore’s rudeboys the guy named Abby aka Don about the scene there, and here it is.

The underground scene here is absolutely amazing, as gig are always fun.
many fans of ska, Oi!, Indie and Punk are always sighted at gigs.

Abby aka Don, who has been in the scene for quite a long time says :

“When at these gigs, when you turn your head and look, there will be many, not just many, but almost hundreds of kids enjoying the music. you know, just having fun and living your life.. the underground way. [Laughts] “

And there is Punks, Skinhead, Rudies, and Mods.

Let me break this up into parts that u can easily understand  more about the scene here.

Skinheads – The youths of the working class, you can see them every Saturday or sometimes everyday at Cityhall.
What can I say. Skinheads, Oi! Oi! To you lads. They’re violent they’re rebellious and they believe in brotherhood.

Abby said, “At time it’s just hard  just to mix around with them. they’re absolutely great to be with, trust me“

Lion City Hooligans or Lion City Skinheads, they aren’t racist. They’re not fascist and they do not support Nazi Ideas or theory.

Many people in Singapore tend to critisize when they see a skinhead, about their lifestyle and think they are Nazi’s, But the actual fact, they are not!

Many skinheads in Singapore are SHARP (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice)  skinheads.

Now we move on the the Mods.

Mods in Singapore. What are they ? What do they do ?

They’re youths that are into the 60’s fashion and 60’s way of life.
Why are they called Mods ? As they are the youths of the modern life.

They dress in high quality clothing and high class standards, such as Ben Sherman, Merc London. These are some of  the brands.

Abby added ” If  you’re in Singapore, look out side at night, around 10pm around here, if you’re lucky, you will see some scooterboys (mods on scooter [that's what they call them on scooter] ) riding on the road with their modded vintage Vespa’s with chrome lights, chrome mirrors, and everything. Don’t forget to shoot your eyes on the Mod Targets or called Merc. (Blue round circle with a red circle in the middle) “

Now, about the Rudies. Skavoovie.

Abby as he know flat- dead about Rudies.

Rudies are Rudeboys and Rudegirl. They love ska music, they are rude, they are rebellious, they do things the hard way, but still come up on top.

They are the youths of the middle-class. Wearing very smart and sharp clothings.
Their high class standard brand is Fred Perry. They wore coats, thin tie, pork pie hats and dancing shoes or boots and they’re take over in the dance hall. Mess with them, you’ll get kicked in the arse for sure. Where to look out for them ? At Cityhall or at Peninsuila SC[it's near the Peninsuila Hotel].

“It’s our way of life, we stand proud and we fight for our rights.
Be rude to them, they will be rude to you too.
No matter what, they’re ruder than you.”
