What I think about music in Brunei.

Music in Brunei local scene is blasting with new bands coming, from most of the music genra from hip hop bands to metal to ‘MTV’ Punk aka plastic punk. The music of Oi! is still ‘underground’ and pure punk rock sounds are yet unheard to many people. My thought of music today in Brunei is shallow, a lot of bands now days are screaming on the freeking mic, like screamo and grindcore, I mean look at Trivium, they were hardcore metal but they change ’cause they want to follow in the steps of Metallica, old school Trash metal is still fresh and look at all the ’screaming’ bands in 20 years will they voice will maintain such punishment ? And some bands screaming words that I don’t quite hear very well, in 20 years bands like Trivium will still maintain a steady fan base.I learned a lot about music from my older brother and I agree what he said “Band now days sound like crap, where are bands like Iron Maiden *UP the IRONS* ? Where are bands like Megadeth ? what is so rock about bands now days ?” And I answered him “I still listen to old bands every genra like ska, pure punk rock, metal, Oi!.Either way I don’t follow bands that I see on TV and that are screaming at the mic…” We talk a lot about music and he always have a lot of knowledge on guitar riffs, metal and rock genra and we exchange ideas and music knowledge he tells me about metal, I told him about my knowledge of music.Nothing less my respect to some local bands for making Brunei local scene happening =) Underground music will forever and ever maintain a good fan base.

Some info. This is what Matt Heafy said in an Blabbermouth inverview :

“If anyone is wondering why the screaming is gone it’s because the four of us were never into bands that scream and we don’t like any of the current bands that scream, so we asked ourselves why we’re doing it. The only reason I started screaming in the first place is because I sucked at singing and wanted to be the frontman of a band. This time around I wanted to be a better singer because that’s what we wanted to hear, so we dropped the screaming and did a lot of vocal training and vocal work. I think everyone will be really happy with it and those that aren’t can go listen to any of those dime a dozen bands that are all doing the same thing. I have this quote that I’ve been randomly throwing out and that is ‘evolve or be eaten’ and we evolved.”

I remember went to a Gala night I think 2 years ago and theres this band said “this next song is 99 red ballons by a new band called NoFX” WTF ? I was pissed, NoFX isn’t a new band,  they are formed in 1983.That kid should reserch first.Honestly many bands now days that are screaming are have good guitar, bass, drum, song but it’s the screaming that makes me sick listening.I agree to one of my friend who loves ska punk he said “Most band now days don’t have any message on their songs.”

So please Bands in Brunei make more good covers or originals that don’t have to scream all the time that I couldn’t understand the lyrics.

No offence this is what I think.08012008.jpg
